Wake Up Malaysians
Time To Create Public Awareness

KEPUTUSAN HUKUMAN GANTUNG KES 39B MUHAMMAD LUKMAN (HEALTHCARE)
“Ini bukan salah Hakim, Yang Arif hanya menjalankan tugas menurut sistem undang-undang lapuk, dia tak tahu tentang kebenaran (perubatan ganja) ini. Saya masih percaya keputusan belum muktamad. Jika telah muktamad, maka sememangnya undang-undang Malaysia sangat kejam.”
–   Lukman (HealTHCare)

Time to create public awareness on the use of Medicinal Marijuana in Malaysia The name itself...marijuana or cannabis or ganja has its taboo in it.. one must know the terminology of drugs alone differs from drug abuse. Many are involved in recreational use of marijuana, heroine, meth, ice and this should strongly be differed from medicinal purposes. So why marijuana/cannabis/ganja? Because worldwide research has shown that the active ingredient in cannabis with the right formulation has a powerful healing power than common synthetic medicine. For example cannabis has been proven its effectivity in healing arthritis, diabetes, thyroid, glaucoma and many other chronic systemic diseases. It has been recently used in autism children as well as a remedy for controlling pain and has shown scientific evidence in curing cancer patients. Why then is it being prohibited of its usage? Many countries have adapted the law of banning this item as it has been seen as a dangerous item which may cause more serious addiction as with other prohibited drugs. But mind you as it has been shown in many recent research that cannabis could cause minimal addiction to users unlike other drugs. Even our very own Ketum leaves can cause serious addiction just by consuming it via drinking its boiled soaked ketum water.

In many countries such as certain states in the US, UK the medicinal use or cannabis is allowed with special permit to practitioners and consumers/patients. It can be prescribed with care to those patients diagnosed with certain chronic diseases and these patients are registered with the Health Office. If ever this is allowed in Malaysia, the way it should be prescribed should be transparent and detail to ensure this drug is not simply being misused as recreational or simply a supplement. Here in Malaysia, we do not have the permission to deliver these good drugs to desperate needy patients as those who has been found possess, trafficking or consuming it will be answerable to our law. While Argentina, Thailand is passing the law very soon, sadly our very own Medical Marijuana Practitioner is being sentence to death for trying to save more than 800 lives of people having chronic illness where our modern medicine failed to cure.

Muhammad Lukman obviously didn't breed addicts or became a drug addict himself but he had tried to save lives with what he believed in.. he prescribed them with cannabis oil. The cannabis oil prescribed does not make one 'high' or addicted. Its simply a medicine for chronic diseases.

CHANGE YOUR MINDSET on MEDICAL MARIJUANA.. To help the government to start thinking and accepting then followed with a decision to change the law and allow practicing of medical marijuana, in house clinical trial is deemed essential. When I first proposed this thought and idea on this clinical research on Medical Marijuana, I received a blocks of good and bad from my fellow researchers. Some supported as they have previously encounter some readings on the benefits and sort of believe or maybe keen to know more, nevertheless some gave me a definite No and surprisingly the higher management too strongly discouraged my going to visit the facilities and research at Chiang Mai University even though special arrangements with Thailand Cannabis Corporation has initially gave its green light. When hey, I didn't plan my journey to be a cannabis addict or planned to be a millionaire by trafficking cannabis to Malaysia Tanah Air Ku but simply its a process to gather knowledge and prepare me for the clinical research which I have painstakingly planned with a group of cannabis activists from various NGO groups in Malaysia. My team and I had gone to The Cure and Care Clinic previously known as Pusat Serenti in Sungai Besi (suggested by AADK under KDN) to get them to endorse my clinical trial proposal and various forums with officers and counsellors just to enable me to understand this subject deeper without prejudice.

So here we are with the unamended strictest drug law and yet Malaysia holds one of the highest rate of drug addicts. If you are reading this please take some time to goggle and read more about medicinal marijuana or medicinal cannabis. Judge it yourself and if you do believe in it what would your stand be for Muhammad Lukman? Does he well deserved to the sentence put upon him by the Malaysian Government? You be the judge. And may prayers be with all of us and our love ones so we do not encounter any illness which is incurable with synthetic medicine.. and lose hope for life.. where some people in other 'civilised' countries manages the same kind of illness with the benefit of medical marijuana treatment.

Sigh!
Do we need to sacrifice a life or two just to amend the drug act? Wake up Malaysians...
